He is a popular and friendly teacher among the students. One day during the period in which he served as second president of India, some of his friends and students requested Dr. S. Radhakrishnan to allow them to celebrate his Birthday in a grand way as a “Radhakrishnan Day”. As an answer to them, he said that it would be his honour and pride if they celebrate his born day in respect of teachers as a Teachers Day and not as Radhakrishnan Day. And India the celebration of Teachers day was started in the year 1962 when Radhakrishnan was assumed as 2nd president of India.
However as per few sources, in the year 1965 some of the students of the Radhakrishnan has arranged a gathering for paying respect to the reputation of great teacher.
